After 3 successful years in Europe, we are now looking for an operator to be the launch customer for our system in Australia and Thailand.

Following is a detailed description of the system and an in-depth analysis of how Sailsense will be of benefit to your business.

Who are we looking for

  • Charter Boat Operators, bareboat or crewed
  • Private or fully administered Yacht Syndicates
  • House Boat Operators
  • Water Taxi and Ferry Companies
  • Short term Boat Rentals, Speed Boat Rental
  • Boat Builders

What is Sailsense and how does it work

Dedicated hardware, the core of the system installed in the yacht, gathers essential date from your boat’s instruments and sensors, then transmits it to your computer via locally available 4G Network:

Position, Engine RPM, Fuel levels, battery status, flow rates, wind speeds, motion sensors to name a few.

Our unique Web App Platform provides a clear overview on:

  • The yacht’s status
  • Schedules (client bookings, maintenance, servicing)
  • Check-in and check-out documentation, relevant yacht and induction documents / manuals
  • Record keeping (maintenance, permits, certificates)

The Mobile App, linking all involved parties and sharing information whilst on the go:

  • Sailors underway – receiving proactive alerts on the yacht’s systems, route, weather & local attractions, anchor drift alert (under development)
  • Customers – pre-departure information, check-in and check-out documents, how to sail info and yacht info
  • Maintenance & service personal
  • Yacht managers

The entire system allows real-time, 2-way information exchange between:

  • Boat and operator or owner
  • Boat and customers (sailor)
  • Operator and customers (sailor)
  • Operator and owner
  • Operator and maintenance / service contractors

How does the system improve your operation and provide you with an edge over your competition:

Streamlining your operation and  maintenance procedures through availability of real-time data

  • Maintenance schedule is accurate
  • Information on operating hours, oil and fuel consumption can be monitored and action planned and taken before the vessel returns to port
  • Information on defect items can be forwarded by clients enroute, as they happen, including photos – part, if required, can be pre-ordered
  • Status of holding tanks can be monitored and client can be advised to empty them prior to getting into port without the need to charge them later if forgotten (see enhanced customer experience)
  • Quicker turnaround times as less debrief is required and more is known about the vessel.
  • Turnaround agent could automatically be notified of arrival time and cleaning / refueling requirements. Maintenance company can also be notified with specific instructions if required
  • Check-in and check-out procedures digitized

Enrichening customer experiences

  • Client has the ability to read up on the boat’s manuals, cruising grounds and familiarize themselves with the vessel.
  • This prolongs his holiday experience. He can show ‘his’ yacht to his friends, show the App and explain what he will do. Visibility of company logo and name
  • Accelerated checking procedure – more time on the water. Forward user specific pre departure checklists
  • Accelerated checkout procedure – more time on the water. Forward user specific pre arrival checklists
  • Potentially able to share his trip on social media

Operation-wide safety enhancements

  • Constantly monitoring the yacht’s operating systems and stats give the operator a heads up on any potential breakdowns
  • The above helps to analyse system faults or potential ramifications of said faults whilst at sea
  • Educational Tool to make sailing safer for the inexperienced clients who only sail / use boats once or twice per season, on different models
  • Anchor drift alert whilst on board or ashore (under development)
  • Know the position of the vessel at all times, whether it has entered prohibited or danger areas and if groundings have occurred.
  • Security / intruder alert (under development).
  • Reefing alert (under development).
  • Predicted fuel range based on current usage if away from base (specifically for fast cruisers)

Overarching benefits to all parties involved including the yacht owner

Accountability:

  • The operator now has a constant record of what is happening to the yacht and when things are happening.
    1. How often was the boat used and in what environmental conditions
    2. Maintenance that might be disputable can potentially be proven to be necessary as trends are picked up by the system
  • Groundings or false claims of actions taken by clients (I turned the engine off straight away, I never used more than 3000RPM, I was there before dark) on return are undisputable and can assist with conflict resolution as everything is supported by data.
  • Accountability from the operator to the owner
  • Accountability from the user to the operator
  • Accountability from the operator the law, insurance, accounting

Liability reduction:

Every operator has a duty of care towards his customers who rent the boats. After an accident, the operator will have to prove that they have done everything possible to have helped prevent the accident from happening. Be that through forwarding weather warnings, proper preventative maintenance completion of briefings and checklists etc

Sailsense provides an all-inclusive system to assist with the required record keeping
