Just got the word from the factory that our Helia 44 will be hull number 259. This must be one of the last ones to be built as this model has been discontinued to make room for the Astera 42.
We were offered the choice by Multihull Solutions to “update” to the new model, but looking at the technical data we decided that the Helia would suit us better in the future.
We know she sails well and there have been many good reviews. The model has been on the market for quite some time, so all “gremlins” should have been ironed out by now and relevant improvements made.
So go on FP, throw all your remaining parts and extras into #259 to make room in your factory for the new stock.
It is scheduled for delivery in March 2019
Hi Nils,
interesting topic and a really well made blog.
I‘m in a similar position with a Lucia 40 under contract with DYC for a year now.
My Boat was in Trogir for the first season and is in Grenada now.
It‘s fun to read your thoughts about layout of the boat, whether this investment makes sense and so on.
I was going through this so many times and the quintesence of all this is:
What is the condition and the value of the boat after 5 years of charter ???
Will be very interesting to read and see how it‘s happening for you ????
best

Hi Toni,
Thank you for your post. As I expected, there are many of us with the same thoughts and worries, hence this platform to share our experiences.
Please take a moment to upload some pictures and a few words about your charter experiences, the boats and particularly your boat when you get a chance to sail on it. I think it will really help others when they are considering a similar move. Btw, why did you change location? You can pm me using the WhatsApp button on the right????
Good stuff Nils, I own Heliades Helia #208 and also with DYC now based in Grenada. So far so good with my journey in purchasing, delivery and chartering. Though I went through quite a bit of stress and struggles (as most have) in the broker x owner x options selection process = painful + mistake prone. I like your blog format. My www and FB site not as advanced or maintained as you appear to be doing. Good luck and drop me an email if you have any questions about my experience. ~~~ Christopher “Nils” Carstens PS we love our 3 x cabin!
Hi Chris,
Thank you for following and your feedback. Very glad to hear all is going well. Maybe next time you are on a charter or on your own cat, upload a few pictures of her condition. This is kind of a key point of this blog.
Because of the type of contract we entered, our choices of personalize options were rather limited. I would have preferred the 3 cabin version myself as explained but alas, this will have to wait until the end. From a charter company point of view 4 cabins do make sense though.
