That’s what went through my mind a few times, especially after seeing new boats at boat shows and older boats on holidays – like the “aftermath of life in charter”.
Walk away is what they said…
So I kept telling myself:
# Remove yourself from the thought of “I need to sail only on my boat because its mine”.
# You have the opportunity to choose from over 100 boats worldwide!
I guess its about getting your head around the fact that when you finally take possession of your own boat after 5 or so years, the same one you saw arrive from the factory brand new with not a scratch, it will show signs of usage.
Not everyone has the sense of responsibility, morals or even mental ability to take care of things .
If the “damage” is cosmetic then that’s not really an issue. Mechanically, that’s a different story. However, in theory, according to the contract I signed, everything should be well maintained as to agreed and published schedules and in good working order. If not, it will be fixed prior to handover. That’s the theory anyway…
Accept your faults, forego perfection and opportunities will be boundless..
